Why isn't there a Republocratic Party?

The polarization of America is sickening. I think we would all agree at the highest level that we should be fiscally responsible and need to have social programs to help the truly needy. Wouldn't it be wonderful to tear the most sensible planks from each party's platform and build a new more moderate stage for America to stand on?

It seems to be too logical that we should be fiscally responsible e.g. a balanced budget, programs/departments have explicit goals for productivity and improvement, failed programs are eliminated, all expenditures follow a repeatable, consistent tracking process with decisions points for go/no go. On the other hand, some tend to fear that this means reducing or eliminating key social programs. The way many are run, they would be bankrupt and out of business if they were public company accountable to its shareholders.

I say that we all ARE shareholders of our government and our virtual shares come out of each and every paycheck. How is our federal 'company' performing? Our losses are staggering! Our current national debt is: $9,408,066,260,869.55 as of 3/16/2008. Source

That's $9.4 trillion USD, which by the way is devaluing at an alarming rate due to many reasons. When we lower rates to prevent market calamities, our rates become less profitable versus central banks in Europe that don't follow suit. The dollar becomes less attractive as a holding, the global market diversifies in other currencies and vehicles, more dollars are now 'available' (in economic terms increasing supply versus demand) leading to further decreases in value. Oh yeah, what about oil's impact? Oil is traded in USD. The same amount of oil costs MORE U.S. dollars as they lose their value given the dynamics above. A vicious cycle. Take a look at this great article for detail and a key insight into our interdependency with Saudi Arabia. Source: Why Is the Dollar Losing Value?

With all of these problems du jour, it would be interesting to see your replies on what Republocratic Party principles might look like or if you have come across similar thoughts out there to bring America together knowing that we will never satisfy everyone's principles. Wouldn't you have an honest and respectful candidate that is a moderate? Hmmm...
