I wanna be an SNL Writer!

I've always dreamed of writing sketches on SNL. Lorne Michaels puts this ego deflation device on his website to deter that masses of shitheads from bombarding him with drivel...

"Q: How do I become a writer on Saturday Night Live?
A: 'Saturday Night Live writer' is not a first job for anyone.

First of all, read the answer to the previous question about becoming a cast member. Many of our writers are performers, and we found them at the same places, and for the same reasons. About half of the current staff came in that way. The others were experienced writers on other television shows. So if you're really serious about Saturday Night Live, check out Second City, The Groundlings, ImprovOlympic, and The UCB. " Source: http://www.lornemichaels.com/

Interesting! So it seems you have to have a Master's degree in Comedy in order to be able to write comedy. Well isn't that a big, steaming load of horse sh*t. You know, the kind that you look away from as you walk along Central Park South.

They have an old school bulletin board on nbc.com for the show where you can share ideas and critiques. Well, I'm not gonna try to 'say something funny now', just see if I can get a sketch idea of mine on the air someday.
